Think of it as the general contractor for your move. The person who takes the time to understand your needs; both what you say, and what we know to ask based on thousands of past engagements. Transition management is anticipating the challenges based on what you want to accomplish. There’s a saying that “you don’t know what you don’t know”, and this is very true in planning a major downsize or estate settlement.
The challenges intertwine emotional/ social/ financial/ and physical issues. They exist on a platform of sometimes complex family or friend relationships, are sometimes further complicated by second and third marriages and adult birth and step children with varying degrees of support and need, and often involve geographic divides. On top of this, there are fewer and fewer family members who have the time to help- even if they were experts at what you need to accomplish.
And then there’s oversight. Someone to ensure that not only, are all the right pieces identified, but they are put together in the proper sequence and the execution of activities is done with accountability.
There are an infinite number of potential pieces out there. Having someone who deals successfully with challenges like yours every day, is a minor investment with potentially major impacts on your long term health and family relationships.
